  5. Raktamokshana (Bloodletting): This therapy is used to cleanse the blood and is rarely used in Western countries.


Preparatory Steps

Before these treatments begin, the body must be prepared with procedures known as Purvakarma, which include:

  • Snehana (Oleation): Internal and external oiling of the body to bring accumulated doshas back to the gastrointestinal tract.

  • Swedana (Sudation): Therapeutic sweating to dilate channels and dislodge toxins.
